This and that

I hadn't realised how long it had been since i last wrote anything, time does fly.

Well the house sale is going through but i am not counting my chickens just yet, not till the keys are handed over and the cash is in the bank.

I have found some interesting things in Mum's photo tins and i have photocopied them all and put them in my Family Tree folder.  I have a lot of family birth, marraige and death certificates all around the end of the 1800's early 1900's.  One marraige certificate is made of a kind of cloth or more accurately two pieces of cloth crudely tacked together with large stitches.  I also have a birth certificate made of cloth too.

I have World War 1 medals of my great uncle who died in action and lots of letters and receipts that paint the picture of what life was like around that time.  For my Nan life was hard and sometimes violent but she came through it with 10 out of her 12 children surviving to adulthood.  The only thing is now i have a lot more questions and no one to ask.  When i was younger i would not have been so interested, what is it about getting older that makes you want to know more about your past??

Changing the subject, i have spent countless days looking for a holiday.  Do you think i can find one, no.  All i want is a cottage in the west country for a week near the end of August, i have never had this much trouble before finding somewhere!!!

Another change of subject i have just treated myself to Sky +, it has 15 God channels and Animal Planet, probably another reason why it has been so long since i wrote anything, LOL.

I've heard that Sky is very nice but I don't think it is available in our neck of the woods .  Glad to hear the house sale is moving along.  Don't stay aways so long next time.  'On Ya' - ma

Hi Jenny- I'm glad things are going along with the house sale, and Im glad you found some neat things among your Mum's pictures.  I know what you mean about wanting to know stuff when you're older.  I know when I was young, I liked to visit my grandparents- but was too young to be interested in knowing about their lives growing up.  My dad's folks came from England, but I have no idea where!  My Mom's dad served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces during WW2, and was stationed and wounded in England- but I don't know where!!!  Oh, I wish I could have listened.  To change the subject too- I do hope you find a nice place to vacation this year!  God Bless, and have a wonderful week!  Don't watch too much TV ;-)  Carolyn

Well, I too hope you find that holiday spot you desire. I have one place that I love to go to alone, it's in the mountains, a chalet... really it's just a house, but one can pretend. It's away from town, away from neighbors, away in the woods on a mountain. Glad your house sale is progressing nicely. Good luck, and God bless you Jenny. bea

Hope everything goes well with the house sale, Jenny. Ancestry research is quite interesting, particularly when you have all that documentation.

I'm glad the house sale is going through, and it sounds like you have come across some great pieces of family history, going through your mother's things.  It's good to hear from you, and I hope you'll be back soon.
