Last summer we bought a new car. On halloween whilst my hubby was on his way to work about 11.30pm, 8 lads jumped out and threw eggs at the car. Apart from the danger and egg on the window blocking his view the eggs damaged the paintwork on the bonnet. You could see where the eggs had skimmed across.
He thought what the heck he might as well get it seen to through the insurance.
We had to put it into the paintwork shop that the insurance people chose.
The first time it went in for a bonnet re-spray, they sprayed the bonnet and a wing?? Then they sprayed the boot as they had scratched it whilst looking in there. Why they were looking we don't know.
So that was one bonnet, one wing, one boot.
They hadn't done the bonnet right you could see a patch different from the rest. The insurance asseser would not accept it and said it had to be done again.
Back it went for the bonnet to be re-sprayed. This time it came back with the bonnet and both wings having been re-sprayed, but minus the badges that had been on the side to tell you that the car had been an 'elegance' fabia. These badges we found inside the door-well.
So now we had had one bonnet, two wings and a boot re-sprayed.
Again it was wrong, the wing had the same mark as the bonnet had had and a run mark.
Back again, It went in Friday supposedly straight into the body workshop and would be ready maybe that day. Monday we was told it would be ready Tuesday. Tuesday (today) we was told it would be ready tomorrow about 3pm. Oh, and we have sprayed the door as well to blend the colour in with the wing.
What!! It only went in for the wing to be redone.
So that makes now...One bonnet, two wings, one boot, one door.
They might just as well have given it a complete re-spray.
Hubby is not holding out a lot of hope of it being right this time (the door, why???).
Also this will put our insurance up even though we have a protected no claims. We keep the no claims but the basic premium will go up next year.
We only had it done in the first place because we thought we might change it after a year or two and wanted to get the most part-exchange for it.
You wouldn't believe eggs could cause such a problem, although to be fair they had gone through a few layers of paint.
So if you hear screams over the south of England tomorrow you will know why.

I hope it turns out all right for you. It's too bad that the people that did the damage don't have to pay for it. Your insurance pays, but then you pay back because your premiums go up so you pay for it all in the long run and it wasn't even your fault. That is a shame. I hope I don't hear any screams. Good Luck!

ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS MY PARTNER WILL NOT HAVE A NEW CAR IS BECAUSE OF ALL THE VANDALISM ON THEM TODAY.WE HAVE GOT A NEW ONE TO US LAST JULY NOT A BRAND NEW ONE.WE WENT TO STAY WITH FAMILY IN WEST YORKSHIRE FOR ONE NIGHT AND THE VERY NEXT MORNING SOMEONE HAD RIPPED OFF THE WING MIRROR.Whoops sorry blocks on again grrrrr. So partner went to the dealer here back home after the visit,to ask how much for a new one fitting.£70-00p for the mirror plus labour charges.no thankyou he told them,on principle. How much to order the mirror to do it myself.well the mirror comes in a nuetral colour so it would have to be sprayed.OK my partner replied.£17-00p the salesman said.I'll take one please said partner.buys a can of primer and a can of the true colour car paint to spray it himself fixes the mirror himself. The can was I believe roughly about a ten pound for both,.so we are talking £27-00 round about.Probably the labour charges at the gargae would have been at least £70-00p on top of the price of the mirror. Not much differance in £27 and £140-00p is there ,The job was complete the next day and the car looked like new once again .Grrrrrrrrrrr Vandalism and acts of this kind, just boils my blood, they do not know how much inconveniance they cause people or expence.I am so sorry you have experianced this.I hope I don't hear you scream and eveything goes well today .Take Care God Bless Kath

We both have protected no claims, but I have noticed.....even though the accident I had recently was not my fault..........my premium has gone up for the car I have now which, had it been a normal change over, would have been less than the last one!!! Again thanks to some unthinking so and so I am out of pocket and without the car I wanted to keep for a lot longer than I did!!! And no I would not have expected eggs to cause so much scratching........mind you the shells are a bit sharp on some!!!
What a carry on all because of eggs it is unbelievable hope it is all sorted out now for you. Love Joan.
I had no idea eggs make such a lingering problem! My husband is convinced that insurance is one of the evils of the world- along with lawyers. After having to deal with them, I think he's right! Hope your car makes it this time!! God Bless Jenny~ Carolyn
What a mess, not just the eggs, but the spray job as well. And this has been going on for 9 months? Crikey.
